Contact Lens

Contact Lens is a thin curved medical device that we place directly over the cornea or the ocular surface. It is made up of biocompatible material.

There are different types of contact lenses according to the material, size and wearing modalities

Types of Lenses :

Soft contact lenses – are made of soft, flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea the clear dome that covers the colored part of the eye. This lens material may be easier to adjust to and provide better initial comfort than hard or rigid gas permeable, contact lenses.

Indication :

1. To correct refractive error

2. To change eye appearance (Cosmetic Contact lens )

RIGID GAS PERMEABLE CONTACT LENS

Gas permeable contact lenses are made up of durable medical grade plastic material that allows oxygen to pass through the lens. These lenses are also known as GP lenses, rigid gas permeable lenses, RGP lenses and oxygen permeable lenses.

Indication:

1. Corneal Astigmatism

2. High Refractive Error

3. Corneal Scar

4. Corneal Ectasia’s

Advantages: Improve vision in irregular cornea.

Disadvantages: Discomfort initially

ROSE K2 CONTACT LENS

These lenses are designed in such a way that very small aspheric back optic zone diameter that decreases as the base curve steepens and a very rapid peripheral flattening from the back optic zone.

Indication-

1. Keratoconus

2. TMCD

3. PMCD etc.

Advantages

Better quality of vision

Comfort is more compare to RGP CL

Disadvantages

Expensive then RGP CL

Articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.

Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.

Company policies Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.

Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.

PIGGYBACK CONTACT LENS

The piggyback contact lens system consists of a rigid gas permeable (RGP or GP) lens placed on top of the soft contact lens. This combination gives a clear vision of a GP lens with a comfort for wear.

Indication-

1. Corneal Ectasia (Keratoconus, PMCD, TMCD )

2. To improve the comfort and fitting.

Advantages

– Comfortable then RGP and Rose K2 Contact Lens

Disadvantages

– Care and maintenance of two lenses required

– Handling of lenses are little difficult.

SCLERAL LENSES

These lenses are designed to vault over the entire corneal surface and rest on the sclera, scleral lenses can cover an irregular cornea into a smooth surface to correct vision problems caused by keratoconus and other forms of corneal ectasia.

Indication –

1. Advance corneal Ectasias due to Keratoconus, TMCD, PMCD etc.

2. Dry Eye.

3. For better comfort.

As we were directly inside the eye it should be taken from a contact lens specialist to avoid the fitting and correction-related complication.

The consultant advises that care and maintenance instructions should be followed to prevent ocular complications.
